Clarks Summit is a borough in Lackawanna County located in the scenic Abingtons region, just six miles northwest of Scranton. The community was named for William Clark, a Revolutionary War veteran who settled the area in 1799, and was officially incorporated as a borough in 1911. Today Clarks Summit is known for its tree-lined streets, strong sense of community, and its location at the northern terminus of the Pennsylvania Turnpike Northeast Extension (I-476). The borough’s downtown State Street features specialty shops, restaurants, and preserved historic buildings, while Lackawanna State Park offers year-round outdoor recreation just a short drive away.
